JEDDAH: Twenty cars are competing in the third and final round of two-day Speed Star Championship 2009, which kicks off at the Jeddah Raceway Circuit on Wednesday (Nov. 18).
Sayeed Al-Moori, a phenomenon in the exciting motorsport, charged through the grueling qualification process and won the tandem battle of the two-day 2nd round of the competition recently.
At the 1st and 2nd rounds of the competition young people benefited the most as they were treated to an exciting preview of drifting techniques, and were able to experience it themselves by riding along with a professional driver, Abdullah Bakhashab, motorsport developer in the Kingdom and organizer of the event, told the media on Monday.
Mobile 1 and Gear One Channel sponsor the competition under the direct supervision of Saudi Motorsport Federation.
The championship consists of three rounds. In each round participants display their driving-style technique in a twisting track specifically designed for the championship. The races will be judged on time, and drivers will accumulate points from each round with the title awarded to the driver with the most points. There are cash awards for the first three winners. The overall classification before the 3rd and final round: Sayeed Al-Moori 40 points, Ahmad Al-Esa 30 points, Faisal Al-Sharief 20 points, Ahmad Al-Khoayter 18 points, Ead Al-Najar 16 points, Nael Bedair 12 points.
