NEW DELHI: Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram has slammed Hindu terror groups unleashing violence in the country. Chidambaram’s remarks assume significance in the backdrop of some serving Army officers and Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur running Hindu terror outfits.
Responding to the anger of opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Rajya Sabha, the upper House of Parliament, Chidambaram said, “I cannot modify my argument to please the BJP. My argument is that terrorism is inspired by religious groups - whether by Hindu religious groups or Islamic religious groups.” Chidambaram also said there can be no talks with the Naxal groups till violence persists. He asked them to abjure violence and resume dialogue.
Chidambaram said there will be no talks with Pakistan unless it punishes the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks.
“The Prime Minister has already stated that unless Pakistan brings to book the preparatory of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and dismantles terrorist infrastructure in that country, there is no scope for talks with Pakistan,” he said.
