RAMALLAH: Israeli security forces arrested a member of Islamic Jihad in the West Bank city of Nablus in an overnight raid early Tuesday.
Israeli security sources told the Army Radio that Israeli forces and intelligence service arrested 36-year-old Salah Mohammed Bokhari, who is suspected of involvement in a series of military attacks against Israeli targets. They said Bukhari had been in hiding for seven years.
Sources from Bokhari's family told Arab News that their son was arrested from his brother's home in Nablus.
Israeli sources said Bokhari was an active Islamic Jihad activist responsible for planning a suicide bombing in the Tel Aviv central bus station in January 2002. Twenty-eight Israelis were wounded, three of them critically, in this attack.
Meanwhile, the Palestinians on Tuesday announced a boycott of Israeli products made in the West Bank, stepping up their campaign against Israeli settlements.
Economics Minister Hassan Abu Libdeh said the Palestinian government already has confiscated $1 million worth of products, including foods, cosmetics and hardware, and the goal is to eliminate all settlement-made goods from Palestinian store shelves next year.
"Consuming settlements' products is wrong, nationally, economically, politically, and must stop right away," Abu Libdeh told a news conference.
