RIYADH: Red Bull athlete Mohammed Al Bloushy, the Emirati motocross champion, clinched the title of the Asian Supercross Championship, held in Riyadh over the weekend.
Al Bloushy finished the race with 30.609 2 seconds’ difference, ahead of Emirati Ali Al Qubaissi who came second, followed by Kuwaiti Abdullah Al Shati who came third.
22 participants from different countries (Philippines, Thailand, Kuwait, Indonesia, Russia, China, etc.) gathered on Al Reem track to compete in a challenging and exciting race that consisted of 13 laps.
“I am more than proud today; the race was extremely challenging and the competition was really tough. But we made it with my team; I was able to dedicate this win to my country the United Arab Emirates at the same period of the National day’s celebration.” commented Al Bloushy.
“I’m glad to dedicate this win to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi, and General Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE prime minister and vice president, and ruler of Dubai.” he added.
Crowned the Arab Motocross Champion in 2009, the 30-year-old Red Bull athlete had seriously started racing in 2002, when he participated in the Motocross local Championship and ranked 7th in the general classification upon his start.
Currently, Al Bloushy is the Champion the Kuwaiti and Bahraini Motocoross Championships and the Arab Motocross Champion.
Al Bloushy is now getting ready to participate in the full 2010 regional Motocross Championships and selected races in Europe, waiting for the opportunity to prove his skills in international competitions and realize his biggest dream of becoming an International Motocross Champion and representing his country internationally.
