TAIF: The Human Right Committee (HRC) branch in Taif is now involved in the case of a girl who has run away from her parents twice, claiming physical abuse by her father and stepmother.
An HRC source told Arab News that the 11-year-old girl had no signs of abuse on her body and that her Syrian mother, who lives in Syria, is trying to get the girl back by claiming the girl is being abused.
Police have returned the girl back to the father.
The head of the Social Protection Committee in Taif, Hussein Al-Abbadi, told Arab News that the committee finished studying the girl’s case and concluded that she is not the victim of abuse and that the girl admitted that her mother instructed her to runaway and claim she was being abused.
Muhammad Yaghmour, the girl’s maternal uncle, insists she is being abused. “If they insist that she is living in good condition then why did she run away from her father’s house twice? The girl called her mother and told her that she is in a bad psychological condition. This committee was not fair.”
The maternal uncle is demanding neutral committee where he (as her legal guardian) and the girl’s father attend and they have the chance to ask the girl if she was abused or not. He said that he has many witnesses to the abuse, including the report from King Abdul Aziz Specialist Hospital.
