MADINAH: Teams from Civil Defense on Sunday night foiled a suicide attempt by an Asian maid who threatened to jump off a four-story building in Madinah’s Al-Kurdi district.
Col. Mansour Al-Juhani, official spokesman of the Civil Defense in Madinah, said their office received a call at 10 p.m. Sunday that the maid, believed to be in her early 20s, was threatening to commit suicide.
Civil Defense operatives placed a large air bag at the foot of the building as a precautionary measure to cushion the woman if she jumps.
The maid, however, backed out after officials convinced her not to continue. She was taken to hospital for a routine checkup and then handed over to the police.
