RIYADH: Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif has won the United Nations Relief and Works Agency’s (UNRWA) distinguished donor award. The international agency selected the prince for the top prize considering his humanitarian services.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Karen Abu Zayd will present the prize to Prince Naif, who is supervisor of the relief campaign for Gaza, during a function at the minister’s office in Riyadh on Dec. 19, said Saaed Al-Harithy, adviser to Prince Naif and chairman of the campaign. Prince Naif, who has supervised various relief activities for Palestinians, is the first international personality to receive the award, said Al-Harithy.
“It’s a great recognition for the humanitarian endeavors of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah,” he added. The educational, health, social and relief activities managed by Prince Naif covered 70 percent of the needs of Palestinian victims, the relief campaign chief said.
