TAIF: Taif has beefed up its preparations against flashfloods with the restructuring of the Rain and Flood Committee with senior officials of Civil Defense and other government departments as members.
Taif Mayor Muhammad Al-Mukhrej said the committee would undertake surveys before, during and after rains.
“The role of the committee is particularly significant because Taif is in a region that receives rains in all seasons,” Al-Mukhrej added.
The committee would keep heavy machinery and men required for evacuation, rescue and rehabilitation in the event of a flood, the official said.
The committee would also identify low-lying locations and courses of flash floods to pay special attention to such areas.
The official said the committee would meet periodically to review the situation in various parts of the governorate.
