RIYADH: Riyadh Kharj Hospital (RKH) and King Fahd National Guard Hospital (KFNGH) reached the finals of the BSF Inter-Hospital Cricket Tournament in style.
Banque Saudi Fransi (BSF) sponsored the tournament under the auspices of Pakistani Doctors Group Riyadh. The matches are being played at King Faisal Specialist Hospital cricket grounds.
At KFSH Ground 1, RKH routed King Fahd Medical City (KFMC) by 25 runs. Taking first strike, RKH made a competitive score of 146 runs. The highlight of the innings was a splendid 48 runs by M. Faheem. His innings included 5 fours and 1 six.
KFMC in their chase could not handle some tight spell of bowling from Tashfeen Ahmed and could only reach 121 runs in their allotted overs losing seven wickets in the process. Tashfeen took 3 wickets and conceded only 10 runs. For his excellent bowling Tashfeen was adjudged “Man of the Match”.
At KFSH ground 2, KFNGH trounced KFSH & RC by 5 wickets to sail into the finals.
KFSH & RC won the toss and took the first strike but due to some excellent bowling by Shahab Irshad were restricted to a paltry 119 runs in their allotted overs and lost 5 wickets. Rashid waged a lone battle by scoring a fine 35 runs. He got good support from Azhar Hussein (22 runs). For KFNGH Shahab Irshad took 3 wickets giving only 12 runs while Tanveer Aziz took two wickets. KFNGH reached the target convincingly in the 11th over, the star of their innings was Aziz, as he blasted a brilliant 59 runs with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes.
Aziz was declared Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Earlier in the group matches, RKH defeated King Khaled University Hospital (KKUH). Taking first strike RKH made a formidable score of 164 runs, Faheem (58 runs), Tashfeen (23 runs) and Bilal (21 runs) were the main contributors. For KKUH Dr.Abdul Aziz bowled well to take 2 wickets while Imran and Shahbaz took one wicket each. KKUH in their chase could make only 104 runs in their allotted overs and lost 6 wickets Imran made a fine 36 runs while Zulqarnain contributed 12 runs.
Faheem was declared Man of the Match for his knock of 58 runs.
In another match, KFMC defeated King Saud Medical City (Shemaisi Hospital) by 6 wickets. KSMC took the first strike but could only make 117 runs losing 4 wickets. Mujtaba (25 runs) and Sheraz (22 runs) batted well for their team. KFMC reached the target in 11th over and lost 4 wickets. Salman made a fine 31 runs which included 3 big sixes he got able support from Irfan (28 runs). For KSMC Raza bowled and picked two wickets.
