MAKKAH: The Makkah Welfare Organization has started the construction of a 16-bed dialysis center at its headquarters in Islam Square to provide free treatment to kidney patients, both citizens and expatriates. Chairman of the organization Dr. Tariq bin Saleh Jamal said the center, which takes up a whole floor in the organization’s building, covers an area of 1,800 square meters and costs over SR2 million. “It is well-equipped with the latest dialysis machines and qualified medical cadres of doctors and nurses,” he added.
Dr. Tariq said Dr. Suleiman Karsoua, the kidney consultant at the National Guard Hospital in Jeddah, is supervising the center.
He said the center would open in 2012. It will have six rooms for dialysis supplied with 13 advanced machines; three more will be added later. He added the center would also have an examination room, nursing room, reception, waiting halls and pharmacy. He said 10 qualified nurses have been appointed to work there.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tariq said the organization has provided about 300,000 hot meals for pilgrims in Makkah, in addition to 10,000 cold meals for pilgrims leaving Makkah for their homes or Madinah. Dr. Tariq’s late father Saleh Jamal established the organization in 1950.
