PERTH: Australia were one wicket away from a series victory as they reduced the West Indies to 308-9 at stumps on the fourth day of the third day at the WACA.
Chasing 359, the West Indies need another 51 runs for an unlikely win.
Kemar Roach (13) and Gavin Tonge (12) were on the crease at the end of the fourth day.
Travis Dowlin (22), Chris Gayle (21) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (11) fell in the first session after the visitors bowled out the Aussies for a paltry 150.
The West Indies removed the remaining two Aussie wickets for 13 runs. Dwayne Bravo took four wickets in the second innings.
After the early blows in the West Indies chase, a 128-run stand between Narsingh Deonarine (82) and Brendan Nash (65) gave the visitors hope. However, the Aussies struck regularly in the last session after Shane Watson cleaned up Deonarine, who smashed 10 boundaries and two sixes in his career best in his fifth Test.
Dwayne Bravo (one) fell cheaply and Denesh Ramdin (14) and Nash departed in quick session after a 34-run stand.
There was rearguard action by Sulieman Benn (33) before Johnson had him caught at fine leg. Benn plundered two sixes and two boundaries in his 28-ball knock. Ravi Rampaul fell one ball later to give Johnson his third wicket of the innings.
