JEDDAH: Two iqama counterfeiters, 100 forged iqamas, 445 stolen bank cards and over SR2,500 in cash were seized in a raid on a photo studio in the Al-Safa district of Jeddah recently.
Following a tip off, police sent an undercover agent posing as an overstayer to the studio.
The agent paid one of the men SR1,200 to make him an iqama after which police raided the studio and arrested a man. Officers then raided the man’s home where they arrested another man who was printing out iqamas. Equipment worth SR60,000 was also seized from both locations.
Police said the gang used computers at the studio to prepare the fake iqamas, which would then be saved on CD and printed at the house, also located in the Al-Safa district.
