Jazan floods claim two lives
JAZAN: Civil Defense workers recovered the bodies of two children, 14 and 9, who reportedly drowned in a large pool of standing water left behind by recent flooding in this southern Saudi city, the daily Al-Yaum reported. The 14-year-old was reported to be a non-Saudi Arab while the nationality of the other child was not mentioned.
Father brutally beats son
SAFWA: Public hospital staff reported an alleged case of domestic abuse to police after a boy was admitted to the hospital’s ER unit with stab wounds, the daily Al-Yaum reported. Police are investigating if the father attacked his son for, according to neighbors, leaving the house without wearing underwear. Neighbors claim both the father and son suffer from mental instability and constantly argue and fight.
Man jailed for pills in phone
DAMMAM: A court in Qatif, Eastern Province, sentenced a halfway-house inmate to five years in jail and 300 lashes for attempting to smuggle a banned stimulant into the community home where he was doing time for drug possession. Police said the man left the community home to take an exam and was caught during a routine search on his return to the home when security officers found the pills in his mobile.
Man kills one, injures 3 others
QURAYAT: A 20-year-old man has been arrested here for murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Hospital staff informed police that a 26-year-old man was brought dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Three others were treated for gunshot wounds, according to Jouf police.
