JEDDAH: About 18,000 employees of the Ministry of Education were either absent or came late to work during the previous financial year, the Control and Investigation Board said in a report Sunday.
It added that those who were absent from work were about 11,000 while about 7,000 came late. With 7,523 employees absent and 4,600 coming late, the Ministry of Health occupied second place after Education Ministry, the report added. It said the inspection visits of the CIB showed that out of 10,928 irregular employees in the Ministry of Rural and Municipal Affairs, 6,999 were absent and the remaining came late.
The Ministry of Justice occupies the fourth place with 6,312 irregular employees including 3,048 who were absent and more than 3,200 late. The report said in the Ministry of Civil Service, which has a total employees of 3,112 only 48 employees were absent and 31 came late. The inspection tours of the CIB covered more than 13,000 government departments with 8,88,705 male and female employees including 68,369 irregular employees of whom more than 43,000 were absent and 25,253 came late to work.
The Ministry of Social Affairs has the largest number of irregular employees 92.2 of whom were not coming to office regularly. The CIB said if faced the same problems of the previous year including lack of a suitable employment scale for its employees.
