JEDDAH: The International Islamic Relief Organization, Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) has announced a program to provide care for 1,000 orphans in Sudan. IIROSA will also start training and hold education workshops on professions for the homeless children of the state.
Headed by IIROSA’s Secretary-General Adnan Khalil Basha, an IIROSA delegation visited Malakal in southern Sudan.
Basha said that the IIROSA’s Scientific Institution has played “a great educational, awareness and developmental role” in the region. Basha added that the institution’s capacity would double with the establishment of secondary schools for boys and girls, and that the level of current classes would be enhanced to accommodate more students. IIROSA will also offer grants to outstanding students of the institution to continue their university education in Khartoum, which will prepare them to be productive and help contribute to their communities in the south.
The IIROSA team visited Al-Salam and Al-Sareef camps in southern Darfur, where Sudanese Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Abdul Baqi Al-Jilani received them.
Al-Jilani said that the Sudanese government had dedicated an area of 4,000 square meters for IIROSA to build health and educational facilities.
Basha also met with Saudi Ambassador to Sudan Mohammed Al-Kalabi who praised IIROSA’s contributions in various humanitarian causes. Al-Kalabi said various Sudanese agencies highly appreciated IIROSA efforts.
