MADINAH: Princess Aljowhara bint Fahd, president of the Princess Noura bint Abdul Rahman University, has emphasized the need to provide quality education for girls in the Kingdom.
Addressing a seminar in Madinah, she highlighted the responsibility of everybody to improve the standard of educational institutions in the Kingdom at the regional and international levels.
“We have achieved a lot and there remains more to be achieved. We have to work jointly and with the support of God we will achieve excellence in the field,” she said.
She hoped that the research papers presented at the seminar would contribute to preparing a future plan for women’s higher education.
Dr. Hayat Sindi of Harvard University urged Saudi girls to have confidence in themselves in order to achieve success.
Sindi, who has been named one of the 15 best scientists in the world by a nonprofit organization, spoke about her educational and scientific journey.
Madinah Gov. Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majed opened the seminar titled “Higher Education for Girls: Dimensions and Expectations” at Taiba University. A total of 56 experts are to present research papers in the three-day event.
Dr. Ibrahim Al-Muhaisen, undersecretary at Taiba University and chairman of the organizing committee, welcomed the guests who included foreign dignitaries.
“We have selected 29 research papers with utmost care,” said Al-Muhaisen, adding that the committee had received more than 100 papers.
Prince Abdul Aziz also opened an exhibition that is being staged on the sidelines of the seminar.
