JEDDAH: Al-Hilal scored a crucial 3-1 win over Al-Ahli in round 16 of the Saudi Professional League at the King Fahd international stadium in Riyadh on Thursday.
The victory enabled Hilal to stretch their lead at the top of the table to six points from second-placed Al-Shabab.
Hilal are sitting pretty with 41 points while Ahli is in sixth position with 20.
In another match Al-Ittifaq routed Al-Raid 3-0 in Dammam. The win helped Ittifaq move to the eighth position with 16 points while Raid with seven points look certain to be relegated to the first division
In the last match of the day, Al-Wehda crushed Najran 5-0 in Najran in a one-sided match.
Like Al-Raid, the situation looks very difficult for Najran who is also on the verge of dropping to the first division with only seven points in their kitty.
Wehda is now among the top four again with 23 points. Al-Nasr has dropped to the fifth position with 21 points. Wehda has two pending matches while Nasr has three more matches to be played.
