JEDDAH: A huge fire gutted a section of the Al-Radwa poultry farm located north of Jeddah off the highway to Madinah on Monday.

“It took 12 teams of firefighters to put out the fire that engulfed a production line in the farm," said Maj. Gen. Adel Zamzami, director of the Civil Defense in the Makkah Province.

“Fire fighters were also called in from the Old Airport in Jeddah, Makkah and Rabigh. Investigators are trying ascertain the cause of the fire," he added.

Elsewhere, two men died and another was injured when a massive fire gutted a warehouse along the Haramain Expressway at the end of Palestine Street.

Capt. Abdullah Al-Amri, spokesman for the Civil Defense in the Makkah Province, said Civil Defense officers rescued an injured man from the debris of the company’s warehouse. “Our men also removed two dead bodies from the site," he said, adding that the search for more people trapped inside was ongoing.

He said that the two dead men and the injured were found in the working area of the warehouse, which collapsed due to the fire.
