MAKKAH: Seven organized gangs comprising 24 criminals were arrested in Makkah during the final three months of last year, said spokesman for Makkah police Maj. Abdul Mohsen Al-Maiman.
“One gang consisted of three men — a Saudi, a Pakistani and a Burmese. They were involved in eight crimes in the 18 months prior to their arrest. Their crimes included setting a Saudi’s car and home on fire, and pouring acid on a father and son,” he said.
An African man and his Saudi partner admitted carrying out 27 thefts, he said. “Police also arrested a gang of four Saudis and another gang of five who used to rob taxi drivers” said Al-Maiman.
One Saudi man admitted robbing several pharmacies across the holy city, he said. “A gang of six Burmese was caught robbing the home of a Burmese man.
