Child rescued from kidnapper
TAIF: Police rescued a two-year-old child who had been kidnapped by an Ethiopian housemaid. According to the father the pair disappeared from his apartment in Al-Hawiyah district. Police started checking all outgoing cars and locations popular with Ethiopians, especially the Shuhada district. Police found the woman and the child in an apartment in the area. She said that she wanted the child to help her while she begged on the streets.
Ethiopian found dead in Taif
TAIF: An Ethiopian expatriate was found dead in a roadside rest house in the Al-Ramidah neighborhood in the northeast of the city. The man, in his 30s, had been stabbed several times, spokesman for Taif police Maj. Turki Al-Shahari said. Meanwhile, Taif police arrested 21 overstayers close to a fuel station in Ashairah district late Sunday. They said the Saudi driver smuggling them to another city had abandoned them when he feared police might catch him.
Two burglars nabbed in Riyadh
RIYADH: Riyadh police arrested two burglars who specifically targeted the houses and cars of expatriates. Officers had received a number of complaints from victims and finally caught the men on Monday. They were arrested as they tried to remove a music player from a car and admitted the burglaries during questioning.
