JEDDAH: Police arrested a Saudi man in his 30s for impersonating a police officer and breaking into the home of a Thai family and stealing money and gold.

Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, official spokesman for Jeddah Police, said the crime was reported by the head of the family, who works for a private company. The Thai man said the Saudi man came to his house late at night, saying he was a police officer and demanded money and gold.

The Saudi man, who is 34 and unemployed, was soon arrested and taken in for questioning. He also confessed to the crime. The case has now been transferred to the General Prosecution and Investigation Board.
