JEDDAH: Three main valleys in Tabuk were flooded due to water flowing in from other nearby areas hit by hard rain on Tuesday.
The floodwater damaged some of the small dams established by the Tabuk municipality at the three main valleys - Dabaan, Al-Bakkar and Abu Nshaifa.
Some of the southern neighborhoods in Tabuk were flooded, with water seeping into some homes.
Tabuk municipality established a committee consisting of members from the Ministry of Finance and Civil Defense to estimate the cost of damage to the neighborhood.
The committee started their work in the Al-Kareem neighborhood. Five families, consisting of 34 members, were evacuated from their homes and transferred to a temporary hotel housing unit.
The committee will soon visit other hard-hit areas in other areas in Deba, where many homes and farms were badly damaged.
Spokesman for Tabuk Civil Defense, Brig. Gen. Mamdouh Salman, said that some of the valleys were flooded and water had reached Tabuk early on Tuesday.
He said that the situation is under control and there is no immediate threat. He warned families traveling from outside to avoid the flooded valleys as they still represented a danger.
He also warned residents and expatriates against crossing them.
