JEDDAH: A number of well-known speakers have confirmed their participation in the Gulf Environment Forum (GEF) scheduled to take place in Jeddah from March 7-9.
The forum, the first conference and exhibition on environmental and sustainable development to take place in the Kingdom, is held with the approval of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and with the support of Crown Prince Sultan.
Prince Turki bin Nasser, head of the Presidency for Meteorology and Environment, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, deputy minister for petroleum affairs at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Prince Saud bin Thunayan, chairman of SABIC and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, are among the speakers.
“The level of support received, as well as the inclusion influential speakers on the conference agenda, signals the genuine commitment to improving the environmental outlook for the entire GCC region,” said Alain Marhic, managing director BME Global Ltd, which is organizing the event.
A panel discussion on Oil and Renewable Energy — Integration Rather than Competition is one of the highlights of the forum. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman will chair the session, which will also feature such figures as Edith Cresson, former French prime minister, and Veerle Vandwereerd of UNDP.
An international exhibition to be held on the sidelines of the forum will showcase the latest environmental developments, with big players such as GEMS, SAES-Enviro and many more booked on the floor plan. Visitors will get the chance to witness the latest green technologies on offer and realize the potential of the GCC’s environmental sector, said a statement issued by BME Global.
