JEDDAH: A Saudi woman gave birth to quadruple babies on Saturday at the medical center of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu after a 30-week pregnancy.
Hospital sources said the woman went into labor and was brought to the hospital on Friday. The babies were delivered through cesarian section. They said three of the babies were boys and one a girl, weighing between 900 grams and 1.1kg.
The newborn babies are being kept in intensive care where they are expected to remain for two months before being released. The sources said all of the four babies are in good health and are being monitored by doctors and a team of qualified nurses.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old Saudi woman had her spleen removed in a rare operation carried out by a team of specialized doctors. General surgeon Dr. Yousuf Al-Booq described the operation as “difficult and rare” and said the center was the first hospital to do this kind of operation in Yanbu. He said the patient left the hospital in good health.
