JEDDAH: Camel owners and traders currently participating in the King Abdul Aziz camel beauty contest in Um Riqaiba near the northern town of Hafr Al-Batin have traded SR60 million worth of livestock, sources close to the contest announced on Wednesday.
The contest, which began early January, will continue for a month. Prizes of more than SR15 million and new cars will be given to the most beautiful herds of camels.
The herds are divided into quantities of 30, 50, 80 and 100 camels of various breeds and colors.
The camel beauty contest is an annual event in which camel owners from other Arab Gulf countries participate. A camel race will be organized during the event with coveted prizes to be given to the winners.
