JEDDAH: The International Islamic Relief Organization of Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) has given electrical equipment to victims of the November flooding disaster who have returned to their homes.
IIROSA Secretary-General Dr. Adnan Khalil Basha announced on Wednesday special teams from the organization had carefully considered the needs of the returnees and recommended the amount of electric tools and equipment to be provided.
IIROSA is one of many charitable organizations that have volunteered relief work to help the flood victims.
Basha said 34 out of 40 houses checked in the badly affected districts of Quwaizah and Kilo 14 needed electrical equipment.
“This was immediately supplied to them,” he said, adding that the needs of other families would also be assessed.
The secretary-general said IIROSA had provided food baskets to victims of floods in various parts of Jeddah, established medical clinics and accommodated a number of foreign families in furnished apartments. “Each food basket is enough to sustain a family of five for a month,” he said.
A basket contains various quantities of flour, cooking oil, sugar and other items.
Basha said the organization was currently expanding its welfare operations in the Kingdom and has established Wakf (endowment) projects in Makkah to generate more resources to finance its activities.
“IIROSA is extending a helping hand to the victims of natural disasters from all over the world,” he said.
