JEDDAH: International Medical Center evened its record to 2-2 with a convincing 69-48 win over Jamjoom Pharma in the third Filsama Invitational Basketball Tournament at the Jeddah Sports Academy court on Thalia corner Sitteen Street here.
In a battle featuring teams from the health care industry, IMC was far and away the better team as it remained at second place in the Inter-Company Non-Rated Division Group A, behind Jollibee, which earned a twice to beat privilege in the quarterfinals after a five-game sweep of the eliminations. IMC is one of the regular teams to join FBL League under team coordinator Cherry Tolentino. Audar spearheded IMC with 22 points.
Meanwhile, Modern Offset Printers grilled La Parilla Restaurant-Bugshan 82-74 for their fourth straight win in the Inter Company Group B. MOP made use of its veteran players like Arnobit who made 22 big points to send winless La Parilla-Bugshan to another defeat.
It was a fight to the finish in the game between Cotabato and RJM Cargo Sibuko, with Cotabato ending up with a three-point margin of victory over RJM Sibuko. The towering duo of Mahmood and Ibrahim contributed a combined total of 52 points in what swung the game Cotabato’s way .
Sibuko’s Jong Mamang valiantly held his own hitting several spectacular shots against the enemy’s double- and even triple-teaming defense. But Mamang could only do so much and also, A. Latip had a bad night for Sibuko.
In the final minute of the game, Latip made several drives to the hoop with no success and hauled down two offensive rebounds to no avail. The game 81 for Cotabao and 78 for Sibuko.
It was Cotabato’s first win in two outings.
The main game between Pagadian and X-rulz was interrupted with 2:52 remaining with Pagadian leading. Game will be resumed at a later date.
The league is organized by the Filsama Basketball League (FBL) committee in cooperation with JSA’s Moshen Al-Khaldi.
