RIYADH: Sri Lankan missions in the Kingdom are getting ready to celebrate the country’s 62nd independence day on Thursday.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh will host a breakfast morning for the local community after a flag hoisting ceremony. Ambass-ador Ahmed A. Jawad will unfurl the national flag in the morning.

A choir from the Sri Lankan International School will then recite the national anthem. This will be followed by a two-minute silence to remember those who gave their lives for Sri Lanka.

“This will be done as a mark of respect to all those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation,” Ambassador Jawad said.

A similar program will take place in Jeddah. Consul General Sabarullah Khan will hoist the flag in the morning.

while the local community has been invited to participate in the celebrations.
