AMMAN: Jordan’s Queen Rania accompanied Princess Hessa bint Salman in a visit to the Queen Rania Family and Child Center in Jabal Al-Nasr, Jordan, on Wednesday.
Princess Hessa lauded the queen’s services to the Madrasati educational reform program in Jordan and other establishments aimed at serving the society. The queen and princess were briefed on various services offered by the center, such as counseling, legal advice and health treatment to families and children.
The royal visitors also attended a drama titled “Body Movement,” in which a group of children participated, representing the services offered by the center in educating and training through the medium of drama. They also watched the interaction of children in a workshop entitled “Me and Those Around Me.”
They also observed the services of the center’s family support line, which provides a hotline for children and families who are in distress.
They were also briefed on the Jordan River Foundation (JRF) by the organization’s Director General Valentina Qissisiah.
The JRF director general said that the foundation has begun to transfer expertise to Saudi Arabia with the participation of the Majed bin Abdul Aziz Society for Social Growth and Services.
In April 2008, Queen Rania launched Madrasati as public-private initiative aimed at refurbishing 500 of Jordan’s public schools. One of her more major initiatives, Madrasati aims to improve education by creating a better learning environment and strengthening learning opportunities across the country.
The project has benefited 200 schools with the participation of 80 private companies and establishments. A delegation of the Prince Salman Center for Disability Research is also visiting the JRF.
Princess Hessa was invited by the queen as the representative of the Prince Salman Center and also the Disabled Children’s Society headed by Prince Sultan bin Salman and Insan charity which is headed by Prince Faisal bin Salman. Princess Hessa is also a member of the Saudi Human Rights Commission.
