The South Koreans were among seven people killed Tuesday night in a three-vehicle smash-up in Limay town in Bataan province, 30 kilometers west of Manila.

Police investigators said the Koreans were among the passengers of a van that rammed into a passenger bus while attempting to overtake a tricycle.

The van allegedly hit the tricycle first before colliding head-on with the approaching passenger bus.

Nine more people were killed before dawn Wednesday when a dump truck they were riding in fell into a ravine in Mlang town in South Cotabato province, 1,080 kilometers south of Manila.

The victims were on their way to attend pre-wedding festivities in the nearby town of Polomolok.

Police investigators were still determining the cause of the accident.
