- SRINAGAR: Two civilians and a policeman were killed and eight other people wounded Tuesday when suspected militants attacked police patrols at two major markets in Indian Kashmir.
A civilian and a policeman were killed in an evening attack by suspected militants at a main market in Sopore town, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of the Kashmiri summer capital Srinagar, a police spokesman said. He said three civilians and a policeman were also hurt in the gun attack that sparked panic in the market. Earlier, a civilian was killed and four others, including two policemen, wounded during a similar raid in Srinagar.
