According to the report issued by the directorate of the Civil Defense the weather will be unstable in some regions, especially in open spaces and on highways. There is a likelihood of light to medium thunderstorms in some regions.

“Thunder and rain is likely to follow surface winds and poor visibility especially in Northern Border Province, Al-Jouf, Hail, Qassim, Riyadh and the Eastern Province,” the statement added.

The directorate urged the public to be extremely careful when they visit hazardous locations such as wadis where flash floods can strike with little to no warning.

Wadi flooding is particularly dangerous because the water can build quickly and run for kilometers. Flooding can occur in parts of the wadi away from where the primary precipitation is taking place, catching people who are unaware of the danger.

On Thursday, heavy rains fell on Yanbu causing wadis to flood. The Civil Defense reported several cases of vehicles trapped in floodwaters. There were no reports of casualties or serious damage to property.
