The exhibition featured 30 photographs highlighting WFP and UNICEF’s work with children around the world especially in the Middle East region. The photos included WFP school meals projects in the occupied Palestinian territory and Iraq, internally displaced children in Yemen as well as emergency and relief operations in Haiti and UNICEF’s educational and health programs in the Middle East and North Africa. The WFP is the largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. During 2009, the agency, which is entirely funded by voluntary contributions, raised $4 billion to assist in the fight against hunger. In 2010, WFP aims to feed 90 million people in 73 countries. WFP’s largest operations are in the Muslim world, providing food assistance to almost 48 million people annually, close to 50 percent of the total number of people assisted by WFP worldwide every year. The UNICEF is on the ground in over 150 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. The world’s largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, safe water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.
