- RIYADH: The Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation — Lebanon, chaired by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, has donated $60,000 to The Minaret of Freedom Institute, a US-based organization committed to promote interfaith dialogue.
- This donation follows a previous donation of $72,000.
Since 1993, the Minaret of Freedom Institute has devoted itself to counter misconceptions about Islam, to show the Islamic origins of certain modern values, and to educate society about the importance of liberty and free markets.
The institute advances its mission through academic papers, op-ed pieces, lectures and public events.
Its network is diverse encompassing administration officials, members of the diplomatic corps, professors, researchers and others who share the quest to strengthen understanding between East and West. Imad Ad-Deen Ahmad is the president-director of the institute.
Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation — Lebanon works internationally to tackle poverty, provide rapid aid in cases of natural disasters, and provide women and youth in the Middle East and North Africa region with economic and educational opportunities through strategic philanthropic investments. The foundation also reframes perceptions of Islam in the West through dialogue, programs and educational centers in order to promote greater understanding between different faiths and world views.
