- JUBAIL: Two world champions of public speaking are among half a dozen keynote speakers at the two-day Jubail Toastmasters Annual Division L Conference beginning April 15 at the Multi Event Center.
David Brooks and Craig Valentine have been especially invited from the United States to share their public speaking expertise with nearly 400 delegates who are expected to attend the conference.
Among other prominent keynote speakers are Saudi columnist and Shoura Council member Najeeb Al-Zamil, Arab News Editor in Chief Khaled Almaeena and Jeddah United Sports Co. Executive Director Lina Almaeena.
Brooks will speak on the essentials of effective speaking and explain how to speak with humor, substance and style.
“He will show how each can be accomplished,” Waheed Lateef, the Division L governor, told Arab News on Sunday. Brooks won the world championship in public speaking in 1992.
Valentine will deliver a keynote on the 4 Rs to conquering heights and getting remarkable results. He will also conduct a workshop on how to keep the audiences on the edge of their seats. Valentine had won the public speaking world championship in 1999.
“In this powerful and interactive speech, Valentine will share the secrets one can use to get onto a cycle of success that takes you directly to your goals and dreams,” said Lateef.
“In this fast-paced, entertaining workshop, Valentine will provide you with the tools necessary to keep your audience hanging on your every word while you deliver a message they cannot shake from their minds.”
Toastmasters welcomes both young and old.
“It is an excellent opportunity for families to be part of this conference because ‘Culturing Connections’ and ‘Conquering Heights’ are the themes for the division and the conference respectively,” said Lateef. “The conference is expected to be attended by all the leading intellectuals from the Industrial City of Jubail.”
Lateef said his division has teamed up with Arab News to highlight the role the newspaper has played in connecting people through its revolution in communication.
“Arab News is celebrating its 35th anniversary, and we saw this as the best opportunity to align with the newspaper’s mission of effective and honest communication. Toastmasters is essentially about learning effective communication skills.”
