The successes of their programs have led to many branches being opened all over the Kingdom.

ALJCSP has been playing a prominent role through its three outreach programs - Bab Rizq Jameel Programs; Health and Social Programs and International Programs. And it will continue to develop its programs and services to serve the community in which it is operating.

The year 2009 was truly exceptional. The number of Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ) branches increased to 18 throughout the Kingdom. Since its inception in 2003, the total jobs created by ALJCSP has reached 113,855. The health and social programs and the international programs also continue to expand to other countries, including Egypt and Syria.

Bab Rizq Jameel is basically involved with job creation for young males and females through diversified programs.

The Direct Employment Program matches job seekers directly to vacancies in private sector companies. It also provides information to companies about qualified job seekers in BRJ databases. Direct employment is achieved by analyzing job opportunities available with private companies or establishments, and defining the qualifications required for such jobs.

Another program, Training Ending with Employment Program, concentrates on vocational and craft training courses in areas needed by the job market and ends with the employment of young males and females in private sector companies.

The Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) provides support to technical schools and institutes in the Kingdom, and supplies advanced devices and equipment for specialized workshops to facilitate training process. This helps improving efficiency of graduates, and enhancing their skills to meet the basic requirements of the Saudi labor market in the Kingdom.

The program is based upon qualifying graduates of specialized technical colleges in curriculum of "Toyota - Mechanical division," and then they would be enrolled in the maintenance program for the year. After successfully passing this stage, they would be distributed to eight institutes throughout the Kingdom (Jubail, Jazan, Hail, Dammam, Riyadh, Abha, Hofuf, and Jeddah). After three introductory months, the graduate would be appointed by one of the private companies.

In the Joint Institutes Program, in cooperation with the private sector, specialized institutes are established in cooperation with several private companies. Training in these institutes starts with job opportunities.

Abdul Latif Jameel Company (ALJ) is one of the sponsors of the Saudi Japanese Automobile High Institute (SJAHI), which sharpens skills of talented young Saudi males and improves their knowledge and self-confidence in the field of Japanese automobile maintenance.

The Saudi Institute for Health Services is a nonprofit health institute in which a selection of private sector hospitals and companies contribute in addition to ALJ. The objective is to upgrade medical skills in medical areas such as x-ray, optics, nursing and medical administration.

Study in the Saudi Electronics Institute started in Sept. 26, 2009, with enrollment of 78 students. Abdul Latif Jameel Technology Products Co. Ltd. participated in this institute by providing training to a group of students. The institute is an initiative between the General Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and the private sector.

Institutes established by ALJCSP include:

• ALJ Auto Denting and Painting Institute: The institute was established by ALJ to provide training to young Saudis in denting and painting works for automobiles.

• Nafisa Shams Academy for Arts and Crafts: Training in Nafisa Shams Academy for Arts and Crafts is mostly practical, a feature that grants the female trainee the required skills for doing the job.

• Work-from-Home Program: The successful program launched by the Academy in 2008 started its operation with the prayer rugs project.

• Small Projects Program: This program finances owners of small projects through interest-free loans up to SR200,000. During 2009, 5,110 small projects have been financed.

• Productive Household Program: This program helps in transforming females from aid-receivers to producers in the Saudi society. That is why we are continuously supporting female owners of micro projects to upgrade their economic, social and lifestyle levels.

• Franchise Program: This program coordinates businessmen on one hand, and young males and females on the other through providing opportunity for businessmen to create new jobs for young males and females by opening small branches for their businesses. The process is guaranteed with a security from BRJ. Franchise is one of the most effective job creation tools throughout the world. The process is based upon financing small projects depending upon success stories achieved by major projects.

• Taxi Ownership Program: This program creates jobs for young Saudi males by helping them own and operate fully-equipped taxis.

• Truck Ownership Program: Through this program, young Saudi males can own fully insured heavy or light trucks to use them for transporting people and goods. The program helps in the Saudization of the transportation sector.

• Al Nada Center for Social Care - Hail: This program is dedicated to offering care and support for male and female elderly. The center provides the highest level of care, and fulfills needs of this category in coordination with the health affairs in Hail area.

• Tanweer Program for Orphan Students: The program is based on organizing scientific, cultural and entertainment trips for outstanding orphan students as a reward for their excellent academic performance.

• Community Centers Association Programs - Makkah: ALJCSP is sponsoring certain community centers association programs, and contributes in supporting community and developmental activities initiated by the association in Jeddah under the theme, "Hand in hand toward an ideal community".

• Family Day Program for Prisoners: The purpose of ALJCSP's Family Day Program for Prisoners is to maintain the family relationship between the prisoner and his family. For this purpose, ALJCSP has constructed 44 fully equipped living units to host this family reunion in a private and appropriate accommodation.

• Injaz-Saudi Program: ALJCSP participated with other private companies in supporting Injaz, a program that intends to educate children about the importance of starting small projects.

• Prince Salman Center for Disability Research: The Center is one of the Ministry of Social Affairs' charity foundations, adopting several research activities that aim to realize the Center's slogan, (science that benefits people). The ALJCSP is a local technical partner of the Center. ALJCSP's (vocational training program) provides training for disabled people to prepare them for work environment. In addition, the ALJCSP's empowering program for economically merging disabled people helps this category to improve their economic situations through loans.

• Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) Grant for Funding Scientific Research and Innovation in Technology in the Arab World: The grant witnessed a qualitative transformation for the grant's programs. During the second half of the year, a re-evaluation process was started for all the research works that have been financed during the last four years  in order to select suitable works that could be transformed into profitable projects through Bab Rizq Jameel's small and medium project finance.

MIT Pan-Arab Business Plan: This award is the first of its kind in the Arab world, and is dedicated to supporting outstanding entrepreneurs in the region and to help them start their own businesses across the Middle East, as well as the improvement of business competencies and ethics in the Arab World. The Best Pan Arab Business Plan Competition is organized in cooperation with ALJCSP.

Grameen-Jameel Pan-Arab Micro-finance: Grameen-Jameel is one of the leading foundations in the area of growing and developing competencies of micro-finance institutions in the Arab world. Through its activities, Grameen-Jameel is also seeking to technically support microfinance institutions. By doing so, Grameen-Jameel is planning to extend support to one million people by the year 2011.

Improving the lives of 20 million people per annum from 2010: J-PAL is seeking to alleviate poverty on a global scale and to improve the lives of 20 million people per annum starting in 2010. Based at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, the mission of The Poverty Action Lab is to reduce poverty through the use of science, technology and research which will lead to focused action approaches. In April 2009 further support was extended to enable the 'Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab at MIT' (J-PAL) to expand its work over the next five years and well into the future with the primary goal of improving the lives of 100 million people worldwide by 2015.

The Yunus Innovation Challenge Initiative:  The Muhammad Yunus Innovation Challenge, a program of the MIT International Development Initiative (including the D-Lab) was launched to alleviate poverty and to promote political awareness in the developing world. It has the following objectives:

- Introduce students to extreme poverty in developing countries.

- Leverage experience of the staff and other stakeholders in the educational institute, including those in Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at MIT

- Guarantee that students will utilize their knowledge, skills and talent to create solutions to the problems faced by poor people on a daily basis.

1001 Inventions: This is an educational initiative and exhibition exploring historical Muslim contributions to science and technology.

The exhibition is launching an international tour to highlight the Muslim heritage in our world and reveals over 1,000 years of scientific contributions made by early Muslim scholars that helped form the foundations of modern civilization.

The period it covers is from the 7th Gregorian century to the present day. This initiative was developed by the UK based academic organization the Foundation for Science Technology and Civilization (FSTC) in cooperation with Abdul Latif Jameel Foundation, a program of ALJCSP.
