- JEDDAH: A number like 4586280 in a text message sounds a lot like a phone number, but in the case of a Qassim resident, the number was in fact what the phone company said he owed for one month of service.
Local media reports say Abdullah Muhammad Al-Salloum received a text message from Saudi Telecom billing him SR4,586,280, or about $1.22 million. Fortunately, the phone company recognized the error -- as if there was any other way to recognize such a princely sum! It turned out that he owed about SR3,000. Al-Salloum called on authorities to take action against incorrect billing.
