In New York, Roger Bernadina hit his first two major league homers, including a tiebreaking shot in the ninth inning, and made a marvelous catch to lead Washington over New York.

Cristian Guzman singled off Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez (2-1) with one out in the ninth. One out later, Bernadina, known for speed but not power, homered for his third hit of the game.

Nationals starting pitcher Craig Stammen drove in three early runs with a pair of hits. Washington took two of three from New York to win their third straight series.

Nationals reliever Tyler Clippard (7-1) worked a hitless eighth to take the win.

In Denver, Miguel Olivo went 5 for 5, including a leadoff home run in the 10th inning to lift Colorado over Philadelphia.

The second game of the doubleheader was postponed because of rain and snow.

Olivo sent the first pitch from Chad Durbin (0-1) far over the left-field wall, flipping his bat in celebration as he compensated for a 2-for-28 slump entering the game.

Brad Hawpe hit a tying, two-run triple in the seventh for Colorado.

Rockies reliever Joe Beimel (1-0) threw 1 1-3 scoreless innings to take the win on a cold and windy day that followed overnight snow.

In Pittsburgh, Homer Bailey became the latest Cincinnati starter to pitch a gem against Pittsburgh, getting his first career complete game as the Reds completed a three-game sweep.

Cincinnati became the first team in the majors in 10 years to pitch back-to-back, complete-game shutouts without a walk.

Joey Votto and Drew Stubbs homered and Brandon Phillips added two hits for the Reds, who have won five in a row and outscored the Pirates 16-1 in the series.

Pittsburgh starter Zach Duke (2-4) lost his fourth consecutive decision.

In St. Louis, Wandy Rodriguez opened with five scoreless innings to steer Houston past St. Louis.

Rodriguez (2-4) allowed only one hit in the first five and took the win despite allowing four hits in the sixth.

Cardinals shortstop Brendan Ryan endured a second straight two-error game and his fielding miscue in the fourth helped the Astros score five unearned runs to go ahead 6-1. Jeff Keppinger's three-run double and Lance Berkman's fourth homer of the season, which glanced off a foul pole, came on consecutive pitches from Kyle Lohse (0-3).

In Chicago, Mike Fontenot, removed from the job as starting shortstop, hit a two-run double as Chicago edged Florida.

Cubs starter Carlos Silva (4-0) went 6 1-3 innings and gave up two runs. He allowed baserunners in all but one inning but stayed out of trouble. Carlos Marmol worked 1 1-3 innings for his fifth save.

Ronny Paulino hit a tying, two-run single with two outs in the fourth, while Marlon Byrd added an RBI double.

Marlins starter Chris Volstad (3-3) conceded four runs in six innings.

In Phoenix, Hiroki Kuroda struck out nine as Los Angeles completed a three-game sweep of Arizona.

Kuroda (4-1) allowed three runs, two earned, in 7 1-3 innings.

Manny Ramirez had three RBIs for the Dodgers.

Adam LaRoche drove in three runs for Arizona, which lost all six games of a homestand.

Diamondbacks starter Edwin Jackson (1-5) gave up six runs in 6 2-3 innings.

In Milwaukee, Brooks Conrad homered, doubled and drove in four runs as Atlanta roughed up Milwaukee's bullpen.

With Chipper Jones out of the starting lineup because of a sore groin, Conrad filled in and hit a two-run homer in the eighth and added a two-run double off Brewers closer Trevor Hoffman in the ninth. Jones pinch-hit in the ninth and had an RBI double.

Jason Heyward hit a hard shot off first baseman Prince Fielder's glove for Atlanta's go-ahead double in the seventh inning. The Braves scored twice in the seventh off Milwaukee reliever Manny Parra (0-2).

Braves starter Derek Lowe (5-3) was untouchable early on, holding the Brewers hitless through the first four innings.
