Following the meeting, Mohamed Al-Ghamdi, secretary general of the council said that the decision was taken when the house went through the  annual report of the Ministry of Higher Education and Universities. "When the resolution was passed, some members felt that the decision to increase the allowance for undergraduates should be reconsidered," Al-Ghamdi said. He, however, added that 83 members who formed the majority of the house voted in favor of the increase. The secretary said that the recommendation would be forwarded to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his final approval.

Saudi students who are studying in universities within the  Kingdom currently receive a monthly allowance of either SR800 or SR1,000.

Reviewing a report from the Investigation and Public Grievances Committee that functions under the judiciary, the house felt that future reports should also enumerate the causes that led to crimes in  society. "Such an analysis will help the decision makers conduct a study on these aspects and accordingly frame new regulations to prevent such crimes," Al-Ghamdi said. The members also felt that the report should also indicate the existing situations in prisons and government detention camps and outline the measures undertaken to improve such conditions.

Having studied the annual report of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the council suggested that the ministry publish a monthly journal which would include  financial and economic indicators such as inflation rate, unemployment rate, growth rate of  Gross National Product of the previous month and the local stock exchange index. To keep abreast of  global technological developments, the council also suggested a mechanism to use digital map cards for the preparation and  implementation of the objectives of the Five-Year Development Plan. The council then approved the draft Memorandum Of Understanding presented by  the Committee of Educational and Scientific Research of the council on technical and vocational training programs  between the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and the Ministry of Education in Ireland.
