- RIYADH: Saudi-backed Gulf International Bank (GIB), which delayed a bond issue in November due to Dubai's debt troubles, may consider an international bond issue when market conditions improve, its chief executive said.
"We will go with an international bond issue when market conditions are conducive and favorable," chief executive Yahya Alyahya told Reuters on the sidelines of a conference.
"What happened in Europe and Greece is not very helpful, but we don't really have any funding pressure at the moment so we can be opportunistic," he said on Tuesday.
GIB issued a Saudi riyal-denominated bond in November, and raised $933 million from another Saudi bond sale in April.
Dubai's troubles shut international debt markets to primary issuers from the region for months, but several Saudi firms have tapped the market this year.
More issues are in the pipeline, but pricing remains a worry, fueled by the recent widening in emerging market spreads as a result of Greece's debt woes.
