Prince Turki was elected at the ACI’s recently held regional fifth session in Hainan, China. The event was attended by a Saudi delegation, which also attended meetings in which they discussed with their regional counterparts issues relating to civil aviation, the effect of the financial crisis on the industry and solutions to limit its effect.

An exhibition — entitled "Air Navigation in Airports, Opportunities and Current Challenges" — also took place on the sidelines of the annual conference.

ACI’s global three-day meeting begins in Montreal today. Twenty-nine members, including Saudi Arabia, will attend the meeting to represent the five regions that come under the supervision of the international.

ACI, which is based in Geneva, was launched in 1992 and has 550 members with 1,600 airports registered from 170 countries. These airports offer their services to 96 percent of passengers around the world.
