Montalbo told Arab News on Thursday that the incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, involved three men who are still at large. The victim lost his 2000 Nissan Altima as well as valuables that were in the vehicle, including Montalbo's iqama, mobile phones, and a credit and ATM card.

Montalbo was taking his wife's colleague home at about 9:15 p.m.

“While waiting in my car, a white GMC Yukon without plate number drove up. On board were three young men who looked between 19 and 26 years getting out,” the victim said. “One of the two, who was wearing a white thobe, was pointing a gun at me. His face was covered with a headscarf."

Montalbo said he struggled with the armed robber and three shots were discharged, though none of them hit anyone.

“The young man then quickly jumped into my car while his companion went back to their GMC and speeded away,” he added.

The Filipino worker approached Arab News on Thursday to alert people in Rawdah to be vigilant for carjackers.

Montalbo's Nissan is silver and bears the plate number 4531-ULA.
