The students are to graduate from seven different disciplines: Interior Design, Graphic Design, Management Information Systems, Nursing, Banking & Finance and Speech & Hearing Programs.

“This year’s graduation ceremony will take place July 4 (for fathers) and July 7 (for mothers),” the college said in a statement. The event will take place at the college’s auditorium.

“This will be the eighth batch of students graduating from the college since its establishment in 1999,” the statement said. Dar Al-Hekma awards bachelors degrees to students who successfully complete a four-year, college-level curriculum.

“This year a large group of expected graduates have significantly contributed in obtaining and enriching practical and spiritual experience alongside successful academic learning while at Dar Al-Hekma,” the statement said.

Fourteen of these students have memorized the Holy Qur’an, 12 have won the Social Entrepreneurship Forum organized by Dar Al-Hekma in association with Babson College, US, and six students have won competitions for best design, photography and sports.

“Four of these new graduates have presented papers and projects at various international conferences, three students have been given awards at US President Barack Obama’s Summit on Entrepreneurship in Washington and two have completed over 1,000 hours of community service,” the statement said.

At present, Dar Al-Hekma alumnae are either employed in reputable organizations or pursuing further education in renowned institutions.

Some of them work at the Islamic Development Bank, the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), the Ministry of Higher Education, Procter & Gamble and Unilever. Some graduates have established their own businesses in the Kingdom.

“With futuristic thinking based on practical applications and the use of educational technology, we are continuously striving to provide a rich teaching and learning experience to our students to enable them to pursue successful avenues upon completion of their studies. We are proud of our graduates’ achievements till date and desire the same and even more for our future graduates,” said Suhair Hassan Al-Qurashi, president of the college.

A total of 567 students have been awarded undergraduate degrees since the first convocation in 2003. Based on an American model curriculum developed by the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC), Dar Al-Hekma has recently been awarded institutional accreditation from the Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), based in Washington D.C. The College is currently the first and the only institution in Saudi Arabia to receive institutional accreditation from an American accrediting body.
