The envoy was addressing the parents and students at the Annual Awards Day at the Bangladesh International School (English section) in Riyadh.

“It is our duty to be loyal to our own country as well as to Saudi Arabia, which has become a second home for overseas workers,” the envoy said while commending the parents and teachers.

The ambassador also distributed 25 high school certificates to students. School Principal Mohamed Shaheed Mohamed Hussein said that the school has been in existence in Riyadh for the past 20 years and has contributed a great deal to promoting education among Bangladeshi children.

The school currently has 1,350 students and 88 teachers.

“We have produced 90 percent successful results at the EdExcel and IGCSE examinations conducted by Cambridge University,” Hussein said, adding that most of the students who passed out last year from the school are currently pursuing higher education in universities and colleges in US, UK, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Bangladesh.

With the increasing number of students, he said the school will plan out new strategies to provide quality and state-of–the-art education to the students who enroll in the school.

The ambassador also presented a special memento to H.N.E. Wijetunge, head of mathematics at the school, who was leaving the Kingdom on completion of his tenure after 11 years of service.
