Yunel Escobar singled off David Herndon (0-2) to start the 11th and scored when Diaz ripped a liner to the gap in right-center. Hinske connected two outs later.

Jesse Chavez (1-1) pitched a scoreless 10th to earn the win. Billy Wagner finished for his 18th save.

Raul Ibanez hit a two-run homer for Philadelphia, which managed just three hits.

The two-time NL champion Phillies fell five games behind the Braves.

Phillies starter Cole Hamels allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings, striking out eight.

Atlanta's Jair Jurrjens allowed three runs and two hits in six-plus innings.

At Washington, Ryan Zimmerman's second homer of the game, a shot to center field off Luke Gregerson leading off the bottom of the ninth, gave Washington the win.

Zimmerman hit an 0-1 fastball from Gregerson (2-4) over the wall in center. He had earlier homered in the fourth for the Padres, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Ian Desmond also connected, giving the Nationals their fourth three-homer game of the season.

Matt Capps (3-3) worked the ninth for his third victory in six days. Washington claimed its 10th victory in its last at-bat.

Michael Morse broke out of a 2-for-22 slump and matched a career-high with three hits for the Nationals, who have won three of five.

At New York,  New York's Johan Santana hit his first major league homer, providing his own run support while pitching a three-hitter.

Santana, a .166 lifetime hitter, steamed around the bases after capping a tenacious 12-pitch at-bat with his first homer in 182 career at-bats.

He struck out five and walked three in his seventh career shutout and first since 2008. The NL Central-leading Reds lost for the second time in seven games.

Santana (6-5) had won just once in his last seven starts.

Matt Maloney (0-1) lost in his first game for Cincinnati this season. He traveled in from Triple-A Louisville earlier in the day, and retired the first seven batters.

At Milwaukee, San Francisco's heralded 20-year-old rookie Madison Bumgarner gave up three hits in eight shutout innings for his first major-league win.

The left-hander, in his fourth major league start and third of the season, gave up three singles, struck out five and walked three. Bumgarner (1-2) picked up his first career RBI as part of a five-run Giants sixth.

Milwaukee's Randy Wolf (6-8) gave up five runs, one earned, in seven innings, striking out eight and walking four, but Craig Counsell's two-run throwing error opened the door to San Francisco's big inning.

Milwaukee's Corey Hart had his 20-game hitting streak snapped.

Joe Inglett's RBI single in the ninth off Giants reliever Sergio Romo broke up the shutout.

At Houston, Wandy Rodriguez struck out 10 and allowed four singles in seven innings and Houston snapped a three-game losing streak.

Carlos Lee and Lance Berkman homered and Michael Bourn scored two runs for the Astros, who have won all four meetings with the Pirates this season.

Rodriguez (6-10) finished one strikeout shy of his career-high, which he last reached almost exactly a year ago against Pittsburgh. He gave up two walks, both in the first inning, and won his third straight start.

Pittsburgh starter Brad Lincoln (1-3), a rookie who played at the University of Houston, took the loss.

At Denver,  Seth Smith's three-run homer off Ryan Franklin with two outs in the bottom of the ninth capped a nine-run rally for Colorado.

It was the largest ninth-inning comeback in Rockies history. The previous best was four runs.

The Rockies trailed 9-2 after Matt Holliday's three-run shot in the sixth and got one run in the seventh on Chris Iannetta's fielder's choice groundball.

Iannetta hit a three-run homer off Franklin (3-1), who allowed six runs and six hits while retiring just one batter.

Manny Corpas (3-5) got the win with two perfect innings of relief.

At Phoenix, Aramis Ramirez homered twice, Carlos Silva earned his first victory in five starts and Chicago won their first road series in 1 1/2 months.

Ramirez, hitting .178 going into the game, had his first two-homer game since Aug. 23, 2008. He has 22 multi-homer games in his career.

Kosuke Fukudome also homered for Chicago which last a road series by taking two of three at Texas May 21-23.

Silva (9-2) allowed two runs and four hits through six innings. The right-hander began the season 8-0 but lost his next two and had a no-decision in his last two outings. Carlos Marmol struck out five in 1 2-3 innings for his 16th save.

Kelly Johnson drove in two runs with a home run and single for the Diamondbacks, who lost their fourth straight.

At Los Angeles,  Matt Kemp hit his fourth homer in six games and Rafael Furcal had three RBIs for Los Angeles.

Vicente Padilla (3-2) allowed two runs and seven hits over 6 2-3 innings and struck out nine. He is 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA in four outings since returning from the disabled list on June 19.

Padilla's teammates staked him to a 6-0 lead before rookie Mike Stanton chased him with a two-run homer into the first row of seats in the left field corner. Stanton added an RBI single in the ninth against Travis Schlichting , but Jonathan Broxton got the final two outs for his 18th save.

The Dodgers' sixth victory in eight games, coupled with San Diego's 7-6 loss at Washington, put the two-time defending NL West leaders within three games of the division-leading Padres.
