The competition was held in three age groups and for men and women separately. 

The Holy Qur’an Memorization International Organization of the Muslim World League sponsored the event by providing judges for the competition and prizes for the winners.

This was the second annual event arranged by the Consulate General.  Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Basfar, secretary-general of the Holy Qur’an Memorization International in Jeddah, thanked Consul General Sabarullah Khan for organizing the event and assured cooperation to promote recitation and memorization of the Holy Qur’an among the Sri Lankan Muslim community in the western region of Saudi Arabia.

Khan praised the gracious function of the organization which helps Muslims worldwide to learn reciting the Holy Qur’an according to ‘Thajweed’ rules and to memorize it. The organization has also stationed one of its representatives in Sri Lanka to promote and assist the Sri Lankan Muslims to learn correct recitation and memorization of the Holy Qur’an. 

M.I. Abdur Rahman, A. Niyas, M.M.A. Sathar, Ms. F.R.M. Lafir, Ms. F.M. Mazmi and Ms. I.J. Aanisha received first prizes in their respective groups.
