“Some Western embassies ask visa applicants to produce bank statements for the last six months. It is a violation of the privacy of information,” said the NSHR in a statement on Wednesday.

The organization expressed its concern over the destiny of those confidential information given to embassies and urged Saudi authorities to ensure protection of the privacy of Saudis.

“The relevant Saudi agencies must contact with the European Union and European governments to review these visa conditions that are applied only on Saudis and certain other nationalities,” the organization said.

The society also denounced the discriminatory practices against Muslims in some European countries, including the ban on Islamic dress code at public schools and other institutions as well as the restrictions on building mosques and minarets.

“Every person has the right to practice his religious faith and express his views on the basis of international law,” the organization said.

“It is the duty of the state to protect individuals against any discrimination on religious or cultural basis and social oppression,” the NSHR said, referring to the ban on veil in France.
