- JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s nonoil exports rose to SR11.9 billion ($3.17 billion) for the month of May, up 40 percent from a year earlier, according to official data.
The nonoil exports stood at SR8.5 billion in May 2009, the Central Department of Statistics and Information (CDSI) said on its website on Saturday.
The main nonoil exports were plastics and petrochemicals, which reached a total of SR7.3 billion, representing 61 percent of nonoil exports, the data showed.
Asian countries were the main importers, receiving 30 percent of the exports in May, followed by fellow Gulf states with 23 percent.
The UAE led the importers with around SR1.3 billion, followed by China, which imported products worth around SR1 billion.
