- RIYADH: The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) plans to raise funds through a sukuk issuance in the international markets.
The timing and size would depend on prevailing market conditions and the internal dynamics of electricity demand and supply in the Kingdom. The average annual electricity demand in Saudi Arabia is increasing between 7 percent to 8 percent, but energy market experts stress that this could be even higher given the $1.2 trillion planned projects over the next decade or so and the young demographic profile of the country.
