Capt. Muhammad Al-Anazi, spokesman for Tabuk police, said only warning shots were fired, adding that the driver escaped on foot afterward.

“Officials manning a checkpoint on the Dhuba-Sharma Road asked the driver to pull up when they became suspicious about the car’s tinted windows. But the driver did not stop, forcing the policeman to fire a warning shot,” he said. He said the bullet hit a passenger in the back seat.

“The injured person was taken to King Khaled Hospital in Tabuk and his condition is stable,” Al-Anazi said, adding that investigations were still ongoing. The injured passenger is said to be the brother of a tribal elder in Dhuba.

Meanwhile, the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Shamli, Hail, busted a brothel run by an Arab woman.

The commission’s field team raided the house after a tip-off and arrested all women residents. The officers also took a number of male visitors into custody.
